About this Marathon:

Run Rome The Marathon is one of the world’s most iconic city marathons, taking place annually in March. The race begins and ends on Via dei Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum as the dramatic backdrop, offering runners an unforgettable experience through the heart of the Eternal City.

The 42.2km course winds past Rome’s most famous landmarks, including Piazza Venezie, Circus Maximus, the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. While largely flat and fast, runners should be prepared for stretches of cobblestone streets, particularly in the historic centre. The route is fully supported and has a time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes.

Alongside the main event, Rome also hosts the Run4Rome relay, where teams of four complete the marathon together, and the Fun Run, a 5km non-competitive event perfect for families and casual participants. With a strong focus on history, community, and culture, the Rome Marathon offers a spectacular race experience in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
