The Pacific Ocean: Runners alongside the coastline for much of the race, providing dramatic backdrops of the ocean, with opportunities to spot distant waves crashing against the shore.
Flat Terrain: The course is known for being relatively flat and fast, making it accessible for runners of all abilities. However, there are some slight inclines, particularly toward the latter part of the race.
Crowds and Cheer Zones: The marathon features a lively atmosphere with spectators and entertainment along the route. There are also traditional Hawaiian cultural performances, local bands, and cheer zones that add to the excitement of the event.
No Time Limit: Unlike many other marathons, the Honolulu Marathon does not have a time limit for finishing, making it a popular choice for first-time marathoners and walkers.
Special Considerations:
Weather: Runners can expect warm temperatures and high humidity, especially in the latter part of the race, so it’s important to stay hydrated.
Sunrise Start: The race starts early in the morning, but it can still be sunny and warm as the day progresses, so sun protection is recommended.
