The 2024 TCS London Marathon was an extraordinary event, setting a new world record with over 53,000 runners completing the race. On a cool but beautiful spring day, runners from around the globe gathered to partake in one of the most celebrated marathons, surpassing even Paris and setting a new benchmark for the World Marathon Majors.
London is renowned for its vibrant and colourful marathon, where participants often dress in creative costumes. This year was no exception, with runners donning outfits ranging from rhino costumes, raising funds for endangered species, to a runner carrying a washing machine on their back, aiming to break the Guinness World Record for completing a marathon with an appliance! Spectacular Support and a Unique Finish Line
The atmosphere along the course was electric, with enormous crowds of spectators cheering on the runners from start to finish. The support was unwavering, with many staying until the very last participant crossed the line. London’s commitment to celebrating every runner is truly unique. They actively encourage runners of all abilities, keeping the finish line open late and moving it from The Mall to St James Park once the cutoff time is reached, ensuring everyone has the chance to complete the race. Marathon Tours: A Successful Journey
Marathon Tours was proud to accompany a fantastic group to this year’s event, with every member of our team successfully finishing and earning that all-important medal. Several of our runners also achieved their 6th Star Medal, a testament to completing all six World Marathon Majors.

Looking Ahead to 2025
The interest in the London Marathon continues to grow, with the ballot for entries recording over 800,000 applications this year, an increase of over 250,000 from previous years. We are thrilled to announce that Marathon Tours has been reappointed as an Official International Tour Operator for the 2025 event.
