About the Race

The Boston Marathon begun in 1897 and was inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition at the 1896 Summer Olympics.

Professional and amateur runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, running the hilly New England terrain.

The marathon attracts approximately 500,000 spectators each year with around 20,000 runners participating.

 Course Tour 

Will this be your first Boston Marathon?  Do you want to get a preview of the historic course or show your supporters what you’ll pass by on race day?

We can offer a choice of two departures: Saturday at 2:00 pm or Sunday at 10:00 am. Our motorcoaches depart from in front of the Sheraton Boston at 39 Dalton Street.  The tour usually takes three hours and is guided by local marathon runners who know the course, the history and some stories of the world’s oldest 26 miler.

There is also a Boston Marathon Trivia Contest with prizes sponsored by Adidas.
