The Seoul International Marathon began in 1931 as a 14½ mile race along the circular road around the city. The energy, spirit, and support that first race engendered still exists today and the marathon remains a sporting highlight in Korea each year. The course is celebrated for being flat with virtually no incline at all. Runners will enjoy the sights this modern city has to offer and the chance to run along the scenic Han River.

About the Destination
There is plenty to discover about Seoul either before or after the marathon. Home to stunning skyscrapers, bustling markets, beautiful gardens, and ancient temples and palaces, Seoul will keep you on the go. Start by visiting 63 Building, the tallest skyscraper, to get an aerial view of the city from the Observation Deck on the 60th floor. While you are in the building you can go to the Sea World Aquarium or the IMAX cinema. From here, you can go from modern to ancient by visiting three of Seoul’s famous palaces, Gyeongbok-gung, the grandest palace, Changdeok-gung, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Deoksu-gung, known for its fusion of Eastern and Western styles.
